Oh yes, I can see more shopping trips in my future, but I always remind myself that even though it's fun to buy and display 'things' they really are just things.

Still opening boxes...
Yes, I know. For those of you who know me well, you probably can't believe I'm still opening boxes; but it's true. Richard and I opened the boxes containing all our 'wall art' this morning, but sadly, we only hung a few things. The wall space is different here...the large pictures aren't large enough and the small pictures are too small. So after a full morning of trying to make things fit, I realize they won't and I will have bare walls for awhile. I think that's the reason I've put off opening all this stuff...that's the reason I'm not feeling 'at home' here yet. But then I remind myself that this world is not my home...it's just a temporary dwelling place. Heaven is my real home. 2 Corinthians 4:18 tells us to fix our eyes not on what is seen (like pictures & mirrors or candles & calendars) but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Oh yes, I can see more shopping trips in my future, but I always remind myself that even though it's fun to buy and display 'things' they really are just things.

I understand you see the bare walls, but when I was there just a few days after you moved in, it already looked like home. You know what they say - "home is where the heart is". Just give it a little time -- your heart is still adjusting to all the change. I know you - it won't be long and you'll have things looking just as warm, beautiful and "homey" as always! Your home is beautiful!! But I am looking forward to some of those shopping trips :)
ReplyDeleteYay, she's back!!!! I was beginning to think that one post was all you were going to do.
ReplyDeleteGetting things up on the walls is the hardest part. Ditto to Colette =)

ReplyDeleteColleen, I am sure tht your home looks beautiful, as usual.
